Ash stood up and turned around, ready for anything. He had heard stories of them; they were deadly when provoked, but sometimes, then just attacked with no provocation. Ash wanted to be ready just in case. Ash spoke to Yumi under his breath.
Careful. They are more unpredictable than a normal demon. [/sub]

'Careful. They are more unpredictable than a normal demon.'Ash forewarned her.
From what her Sensei had told her most dragon's were nice and peaceful creatures. He had a lot of knowledge about the world and she truly believed him. But Ash was probably older than her sensei and was even more knowledgeable. If one were to look at Yumi she would looked very confused to her.
The dragon only got closer and closer to them. Until it was right on the shore it hoovered there for a moment. Ahh! It had smelt the fish that she had cooked on the fire. There were 3 or 4 more large fish left and it didn't seem like Ash was going to eat them. She picked one up and stood on a log.
"Come here dragon, eat the delicious fish,"Yumi beckoned the dragon. It might had seemed childlike but she wanted to touch the dragon.

Ash stood behind Yumi and just off to the right. He didn't even bother to breath right now. He didn't know what the dragon wanted, and because it wasn't a demon, he couldn't read its aura to see what it would do, at least not too well. He waited to see what it would do.
Ash was taken by surprise when Yumi tried to beckon the creature closer with fish, and he instantly knew that she wanted to touch it. Ash shook his head slightly and let his right hand drift back ever so slightly. [/sub]

The dragon neared closer, almost cautiously. When it got close enough it sniffed the fish checking for poison of some sort. The dragon didn't sense any and he nibbled on the large fish. Yumi's had carefully went towards the jaw of the dragon head. Her hand touched and felt the scales of it. It wasn't like the fishes scales, but something slicker and softer.
"Ash look I'm touching the dragon! Come pet it,"She whispered as she reached down for another fish for the dragon to snack on.

I'm fine here.
Ash lowered his arm to his side, but his eyes never left the dragon. It may just be a nice creature, but anything could turn in a moment. After a minute, Ash sat down and started to munch on a fish again. [/sub]

Yumi was simply amazed by this dragon. He had remained calm and let her stroke his lower jaw long after he'd finished the fish. Maybe the dragon had liked her calm aura, or her scent. Whatever it was Yumi was glad that the dragon hadn't left.
"Ash-san do you think the dragon would let me on his back? Would it be safe?"Yumi asked for his advice. The dragon had stayed here this long time getting used to her calm aura, maybe he'd let her get on his back. Ash said that dragon's were dangerous, but this one didn't seem like it.

I wouldn't push it that fast so soon. Wait a while and see what it does, alright?
Ash now felt like he was babysitting a child with a large dog: Anything could happen. She was lucky the dragon was mild, or else would be more agitated, but he forced himself to relax. His eyes never left the dragon and Yumi. [/sub]

Yumi could feel the tense air about. It was between Ash and the dragon. Had he not liked her being so close to it. What was it about dragon's that Ash had a problem with? This dragon wasn't dangerous at all and she could feel it, but convincing Ash of that was a tough job.
Yumi let her hand trail off of the dragon's jaw. She inhaled a deep breath and sat on the log. "Does my demeanor bother you Ash-san?" She grabbed a stick and began to draw lines in the dirt. The dragon hadn't left yet, but it had lowered it's body until it was resting on the bank of the lake. Maybe it was waiting for more fish, who new?

No, its just you have a tendency to be where danger is, and you don't need to be attacked any more today.
Ash smiled like an older brother or protector or something. He tossed the rest of his fish to the dragon, it landing near its nose. Ash ate his fill already, so why should he eat any more when the dragon was hungry.... [/sub]

No, its just you have a tendency to be where danger is, and you don't need to be attacked any more today.Ash said to her. He was right though there had been more attacks on her and she could probably handle anymore that would come their way.
Yumi stood up and walked over to the dragon. Her hand cautiously went up to the side of the dragon and rubbed it. Just like it's jaw the scales were soft and not slimy like the fish. She was really curious as to what it would do if she got on its back. Yumi's eyes turned to look at Ash. He was watching her every move. Crud. Maybe if she did it quick enough he wouldn't stop her. Yumi got ready and then climbed up to the dragons back as quickly as possible.
The dragon didn't move one inch. It probably knew of her intentions...or maybe it was just sleep. She sat down slowly and inhaled a deep breath. She was actually on a dragon. She was on a dragon! Yumi couldn't believe this. Not only had she seen a dragon but she actually got on the back of one.
"Look...I'm actually on a dragon,"

Ash sighed and smiled slight at Yumi.
Looks like I was wrong about it. It seems to like you.
Ash glanced up at the sky, looking at the stars. He always found himself looking at them at night, except when it was cloudy.

The body of the dragon began to rumble. It shook her a little bit, but her face didn't show any emotion. She wasn't scared as to if it would be angry for her being on its back. She just hoped it would begin flying. That would be fun. Her eyes quickly shot over to Ash whom was currently looking into the dark purple night sky. Maybe he wouldn't notice the dragon rising up off the ground, and would let her fly with the dragon.
The dragon let out a loud roar loud enough to hurt sensitive ears. Yumi guessed it had woken up. It's long body began to rise off of the ground.

It was too fast for a human to see; Ash jumped and grabbed Yumi off the dragon. He held her next to him, his right hand keeping her close. His left hand was out slightly, chain-bone swirling around them slowly. As he breathed, a growl emanated from Ash.
Had enough fun already? [/sub]

Yumi almost let out as scream as her body was jerked off of the dragon and was on the ground. It didn't even take 10 seconds for all of this happen. Curse the dragon and it's roaringShe thought to herself. She could have gotten to ride a dragon today if it weren't for the roaring. She watched as the Dragon turned and faced their direction.
'Had enough fun already?'He asked her.
No she had not had enough fun! The dragon wasn't angry looking, but rather had a look of yearning for her. Yumi was only pulled closer to Ash's body. It seemed as if he were afraid to let her go. She struggled against his body as she tried to get out of his grasp and head for the dragon. She failed terribly.
"No...I wanted to ride on the dragon,"

Fine. If it kills you, it wont be my fault.
Ash let Yumi go and turned around, walking to the lake. He doused his head in the water and sighed. If Yumi wanted to ride a unpredictable creature, she could. All little kids could think about were dragons, but the kid stories never told of the majority, if not all, of the dragons bad sides.
They were killers. Period. Ash knew that to be a fact, because there was a little bit of history and blood that he never reviled to anyone, not even himself. He didn't want to, and he hoped he would never need to come to that realization. [/sub]
