So You Really Want this Character?
Character Name: Sesshomaru
Character Personality: Sesshomaru is almost always quiet unless he is making a point. His face is nearly always a emotionless and no one so fart has been able to read it. Sesshomaru is generally not the compassionate person,. But occasionally he will be even the slightest bit merciful and will help someone. Although he dislikes humans, he has become very fond of a human girl named Rin. She has changed him a little, making him a bit more compassionate and merciful. He also shows a bit of compassion towards his imp servant Jaken.
Being as emotionless as always, Sesshomaru’s thoughts seem to be more active than his vocal cords. It would be easier to talk through telepathy, but that wasn’t really liable to happen. Sesshomaru, although he tends to be a slight jerk to his little brother, is a strong person with a rough exterior, but a kind heart. Although he never really has shown it, it has never really occurred when he had experienced compassion, his heart and mind just need to awake and see the world. He isn’t really a bad guy or one of the good guys, so he just stays like that.
Character History: Sesshomaru is the yôkai son of the powerful Inu no Taishou and another, yet unnamed inuyôkai known only as Sesshomaru's Mother. Since Inu no Taishou is considered to be a daiyôkai, Sesshomaru is a daiyôkai himself. In both the manga and the anime, he appears stoic and hard to read. He rarely smiles, and when he does, it is usually not a good thing; Jaken once begged Sesshomaru to beat him rather than to smile because it was Sesshomaru's smile that he feared most. Sesshomaru believes that struggle is the only way for survival, and throughout most of the series, he shows his contempt for InuYasha, his half brother.
Although Sesshomaru inherited his father's Tenseiga, which can bring 100 people back to life with a single swing, he originally coveted InuYasha's inheritance, the powerful Tessaiga. However, a barrier was cast around Tessaiga so that full yôkai cannot wield it without burning their flesh. Even knowing that he cannot touch the sword, Sesshomaru still desires to take it from InuYasha. He fights with InuYasha in their father's grave and by chance, InuYasha transforms the blade and hacks off Sesshomaru's left arm. It is not until his fight with Magatsuhi that his left arm returns. By the time he regains his left arm, however, he is no longer interested in obtaining the Tessaiga.
He is followed by his retainer, an imp-like yôkai with a small beak named Jaken, and later by a human orphan named Rin, whom Sesshomaru brings back to life using Tenseiga, which he tells Jaken was merely a test of the sword (bringing a great deal of distress to the retainer). He is also followed by a two-headed dragon that Rin names Ah-Un. Ah-Un is Rin and Jaken's main form of transportation when Sesshomaru takes flight or when they need to cover long distances quickly. Also, Sesshomaru later saves Kohaku from Byakuya, resulting in Kohaku's decision to join his retinue as they leave Sesshomaru's mother's palace. It is also revealed that none of his companions (excluding Ah-Un) can again be revived by the Tenseiga since they have all died before and were either already revived by Tenseiga or are being kept alive by a Shikon Jewel shard.
Your role-play experience: I’d say about 3, on various sites
Sample post: Dang. . . I’ll have to go with this one. . . . Sorry for it not being Inuyasha themed, but it is something that I made to base a book on, so PLEASE don’t steal my idea!!
There stood the castle, tall and proud. It’s walls were gray stone and had green grime in-between the cracks. The castle stood by the ocean, and had a sandy beach out in the front. Behind the castle was a small village where children played merrily, full of well built houses and had vast fields of corn and other foods growing. Adults were hurrying about, trying to prepare for something. Back on the top of the castle was a girl. She had long, silky blonde hair with elf knots entangled in the furry mass, bright blue eyes that shined like ice. Such delicate features that she looked like a porcelain doll. A thin, yet not frail body. Yet there was something not quite right about this girl. Although you couldn’t see it very far away, she had a tail. A long, white tail something like a cat’s. It swayed in the wind as she overlooked the area, hardly noticeable.
Jumping up the girl landed on the edge of the castle’s wall. Her face held a determined look, one of a warrior. The girl had a long, hard life before, and now she was going to end it. A slam was heard as someone rushed out the door to the roof. A man wearing a crown, long blonde hair and one of those rough and ready looks on his face. He grabbed the girl and pulled her back into his arms, where she stood for a few moments crying in his arms, wondering why it was she who had the tail and not the regular life.
The man, why that was the king of all Britain, King Arthur. The girl, why that was one of his three daughters, Princess Alison Pendragon, daughter of King Arthur Pendragon, son of Uther Pendragon, a great king to all the land. She was the youngest daughter, the one enchanted by the late dark witch Marbella, who was given a tail. Like it would be good for anything but humility. Alison didn’t like the idea of having a tail, and already she had been teased and harassed because of it. Only her father understood why. He, too, had been doubted and seen as a freak of nature. But that was just once upon a time.
Departing from each other, Arthur took her hand and led her down the stairs. The princess obediently followed. Alison’s sisters, Ruby and Esmeralda, met them at the bottom. It was time that they talked to their grandfather for a while. This castle would soon be ruled by Ruby and her husband, Cedric. Arthur was only there because Camelot was fairing well enough for him to be gone and for Merlinnus, the royal wizard, to maintain it for him. Ruby was about twenty-three, while Esmeralda was eighteen and Alison but fifteen years old and burdened with a horrid thing. Having to live with a tail was going to be tough.
Uther was an old and odd man. He was almost to his sixtieth year. The old man stood up from his throne as he learned that the neighboring kingdom was wanting war. The only chance he had was to marry off one of his granddaughters to the other king’s son, Prince Alistair. He really did not want to make one of his granddaughters suffer from marrying that horrid wretch of a prince. He was absolutely devilish. The boy would go around and try to kill things, wreck havoc, set fires, and such all with his servants by his side, helping him. This was a disgrace tom his family name, whether Alistair knew it or not.
Uther was surprised by how much his grandchildren had grown. Why, they were all at least a head taller, but Ruby was basically the same size as always. She had stopped growing early in her life. Now Alison was quite tall now, and her hair had doubled in length also. She was quite the catch. Esmeralda, the middle child, had that long wavy brown hair and the curvaceous body. Her face was rude although, but she still looked nice. Ruby was the one with the long plaited black hair with lips red a blood and skin the color of cream. Her face was beautiful yet her body was not the least bit curvaceous.
Arthur had three beautiful daughters, one married the other betrothed to a different prince to a far off land. She had been since birth. Yes, Alison was the only daughter who was not yet ‘seeing’ a prince or having a husband. She was coming of age, and finding out who she really was. As they came into the throne room, Uther smiled and nodded to his son.
The look on is face was a welcoming warm one as his girls ran up and hugged him, before letting go and looking. Uther snapped his fingers and servants brought in chairs for them, miniature thrones. They settled right in front of the old man.
“My granddaughters, how I have missed you all. Now, we don’t really have much to discuss, but there is one very important thing.” Uther said.
The girls were sitting on the edge of their thrones, looking about and waiting for him to go on. “As we all know, the neighboring kingdom wants war with us.”-the girls all nodded simultaneously, Alison’s tail flicking behind her- “The peace offering we have gotten, is a proposal by the king. He wants Prince Alistair to marry our own Princess Alison.”-Uther paused, waiting for some sign to go on- “Now, I would like your approval on this because I think we need to know if he would be a decent suitor for her.” Uther stopped here.
Ruby and Esmeralda shot each other nervous glances, while Alison’s tail stopped moving and she brought it into her arms. Marry Alistair? That gruesome boy? Although handsome, she knew to never judge a book by it’s cover. “Does… does he know about the… tail?” She asked quietly.
“Unfortunately, no. If he sees you like this, I don’t know what he would say. You are blessed, my dear. You are a special person. Although it may seem to be a curse, it isn’t. I’m sorry. What do you think?” Uther asked cautiously, hoping to hear Arthur or someone oppose or at least approve of him.
It was Ruby who spoke. “Listen, Grandfather,”-Her voice was sharp and clear, her eyes shining in the light from the windows- “I think the boy is quite handsome, but what of his fiery temper and hatred toward others? Does this not phase a problem?”
Uther simply nodded.
“If it means peace for my kingdom, I shall marry him. I shall want to be trained the ways of fighting and such before I go, and I will leave when I am but sixteen years of age. Since it is my fate, my destiny it seems, I shall marry him. He must promise to be a loyal husband, one of good health and one who treats me fairly, or I shall leave and never return. As for my tail, I would like it to stay with me. It helps me understand things, and it enables me to understand and communicate with animals.” Alison looked at her sisters as she said this, the tail hiding behind her.
Uther smiled lightly and said, “Child, you are brave and worthy of one better. For all you know, he will have up and died before you even see him again. I shall send a messenger with your proposal and you will start your training tomorrow.” Alison looked at her Grandpa and smiled lightly also, only being filled with newly found hatred for Alistair. Maybe the boy would be of assistance to get out of this area. Hopefully he wanted the same thing as her, happiness and peace for the land. If he didn’t like it why they would just have to put up with each other. For life.
Alison went to her room after dinner and sat on the bed. How horrible. She would be Alistair’s queen! Oh dear. She couldn’t tolerate his ways for a month let alone the rest of her life! what was she to do. She would have to train hard, and for a long time. Self defense would some in handy. She would leave for Alistair's castle after she was equipped with a spear, sword, horse, dagger, and plenty of cloaks and dresses for good measure. Laying down on her back, she fell into a troubled and fitful sleep.
Alison had a dream. She was falling into a pit of darkness. A tanned hand reached out to grab her, but it missed and she kept falling. There was someone laughing, a chilling maniacal laugh, and it there was the clank of swords in the background. She had caught a branch with her tail and was dangling. She somehow managed to pull herself up. she swung from the branch onto the wall, then crawled up it with skilled hands. When she reached the top she woke up, drenched in sweat and panting.
Uther and Arthur were in the kitchen waiting for the cheese and bread to be brought out. Arthur hadn’t liked the idea of a proposal. Ruby walked into the large, noisy room and listened to their conversation.
“Arthur, listen, I have to say that she absolutely must marry him. We cannot risk war.” Uther had said.
“Father, look, we have a mage! A powerful mage at that. We have amazing forces of men and horses, an armory and much more! We have the strength to win!” Arthur had responded with. Ruby was looking in. She could not have her sister marry such a horrible person. It would not do. But her father didn’t see what she saw.
“Numbers don’t mean everything, father. Nor does strength.” Ruby had said quietly, with Uther nodding in agreement. Arthur made up in strength what he lacked in wisdom. He looked around for a few minutes before looking back at Ruby and his father.
“Listen, we really shouldn’t do this to her. I mean, what if he kills her or hurts her?” Arthur asked, in one of those ‘what if?’ voices. Uther and Ruby looked at each other, and then said in unison, “She agreed to marrying him herself.” Arthur shook his head in dismay.
“She will be trained in many ways. She will be a fine archer, swordsman, spear wielder, jouster, and a fine horseback rider also. Don’t worry Arthur. She will be well trained to defend herself.” Uther assured his son.
Alison stood from the bed. Her bright blue eyes scanned the area. There was a knock on the door. Pulling on a dress, she walked over to the door slowly. Outside stood the Head Archer, Penn Aland. He was a tall, slender man with long wispy hair and a kind face. He held a bow and a quiver of arrows, a small smile on his face. “Time to begin your training, Princess.”
Alison nodded and hurried back into her room, pulled her hair up and tied it with a ribbon, then rushed back to Penn. He led her down the stairs and outside, where a scarecrow and a target in the shape of a boar stood. He helped her knock and arrow, and then taught her how to shoot the arrow properly. The first shot was really bad. She didn’t hit the target. Penn instructed her to aim higher and pull back farther. She did, and her aim increased by tenfold. She hit where she wanted to and did well. “A born archer.” Penn had said.
Abilities/Attacks: I figured I’d add this.
Sôryûha (Azure Dragon Wave)-Using his yoki energy this is a powerful attack that must be channeled through something that can withstand the power of the yoki energy used, usually through his swords. In the third movie when Sôryûha is unleashed, thick arcs of blue lightning stab the earth and carry their destructive force to Sesshomaru's opponent. In the fourth movie it is worth noting that the energy released by Sôryûha resolves into the shape of a dragon right before destroying the enemy.
True Form-Sesshomaru's original form is a giant white dog with markings similar to those he has in his human form. Several times during the manga and anime when he becomes furious, his features can be observed shifting slightly, resembling his alternate form. His eyes turn red and the features and markings on his face begin to elongate.
Flight-In the series, Sesshomaru has the ability to float in the sky; however, in the anime, he can sometimes ride upon a sparkling dust cloud. Despite having the ability of flight, he occasionally rides Ah-Un.
Senses-Due to his lineage, Sesshomaru exhibits extremely heightened senses, particularly his sense of smell. He can discern characteristics of most objects through scent, such as the undead Band of Seven through the scent of graveyard soil and pure-demon blood from half-demon blood (such as when InuYasha's demon blood takes over). Through smell alone, Sesshomaru is also able to learn about events that is transpiring from far away, or even an event that has already happened. Besides the five basic senses, Sesshomaru's ability in sensing other's auras are exceptional.
Super strength-Sesshomaru possesses physical strength far beyond that of a normal demon; he was able to easily lift InuYasha by the throat into the air with one hand in one of their earlier encounters. In addition, Sesshomaru was seen carrying the boulder-sized demon head of Goshinki in one hand with little to no effort. In the InuYasha profiles manga, Rumiko stated that Sesshomaru has Herculean strength, even with only one arm; his strength with only one arm is equal to InuYasha's full strength; the very least of InuYasha's strength allows him to lift a 9 to 10 ton boulder with little effort; since Sesshomaru possesses all of InuYasha's strength in just one of his arms, Sesshomaru would easily be able to lift double that or far more at the least with just one arm.
Super speed-His power grants him the ability to move faster than the eye can see, both on land and through the air. When he does this in the anime, he leaves behind afterimages. He can also instantaneously close long distances without being detected by others.
Teleportation-In the anime, Sesshomaru can morph into a ball of energy and move himself, and small amounts of other material, including other living beings like Rin, over great distances in a short amount of time.
Daiyôkai-As the son of a daiyôkai, Sesshomaru has inherited similar levels of power and thus is a daiyôkai in his own right — endowed with heightened senses, intelligence, strength, and a myriad of yôkai powers. While he usually appears to be a humanoid bearing splendid clothing and armor, he can transform into his true form at will. In the anime, he transforms surrounded in a bright red aura or has a tornado circling around him. His eyes then take on a bright red color and yôkai marks on his body widen and become more apparent; the strips on his cheeks which are usually smooth become jagged and change into a somewhat fiercer color. It is similar to InuYasha during his yôkai transformations; however, Sesshomaru transforms much further due to his yôkai blood and becomes a gigantic, crimson eyed, canine with white fur. In the anime, he has acid breath released in his saliva and spreads like mist that melts anything nearby. With the acquisition of Bakusaiga, Totosai has stated that Sesshomaru has exceeded his father as a daiyôkai.
Longevity-Being a yôkai, Sesshomaru does not age the way humans do, as he has been around for at least a few hundred years.
Immunity-Sesshomaru is immune to diseases, poisons, and gases that can paralyze or kill both humans and other normal creatures as well as weaker yôkai. His greatest resistance seems to be toward holy and divine powers; his resistance to purification powers was so strong that he was able to enter Mt. Hakurei, despite its purification barrier (the most powerful barrier in the entire series and extending over the surrounding area of the entire mountain), without being purified and was only slightly weakened to the degree he was unable to perform his signature kenatsu attack. Also, when Kagome shot Sesshomaru using one of her Hama no Ya, Sesshomaru caught it using his right hand's forefingers. Most yôkai would have been purified, but Sesshomaru remained unharmed with not even a scar on either of his fingers.
Another example occurred at the grave of Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's father, where Sesshomaru was unaffected by a direct blast from Naraku's shoki, a shoki that was deadly even to the priestess Kikyo. It seems that the only mystical powers that Sesshomaru is not resistant to is yôki such as those of InuYasha’s Kaze no Kizu. Another example of his strong body seems to come from Naraku's inability to absorb him. This is mostly due to Sesshomaru's demonic purity, causing his aura to emanate around his body in perfect "completion". It is also stated by InuYasha that human attacks will not have an effect on Sesshomaru, and thus far the only damage he has sustained throughout the series (not counting when he was in his weakened state within Hakurei's purification barrier) has been from yôki-powered attacks.
Regeneration-During his recent battle with Magatsuhi, Sesshomaru's right arm was badly injured. By beginning to transform into his Daiyôkai form, the pure fighting spirit and eminence output of his demonic aura allowed Sesshomaru to completely regenerate the injuries to his right arm. In the same battle, he is also able to restore his left arm, which is cut off by InuYasha at the beginning of the series. However, the full extent to which Sesshomaru can regenerate his wounds is not given in the series.
Poison Claws (Toxic Flower Claw)-Sesshomaru's claws release deadly acidic poison which can melt flesh and virtually anything else very quickly.
Whip of Light (Energy Whip)-Sesshomaru can generate a thin, whip-like strand of yellow-green energy from his fingertips that can slice through almost anything. The whip also displays characteristics of poison akin to the burning effect it has on contact, possibly an extension of his claw attack.
Mokomoko-The fur on Sesshomaru's shoulder can be extended to great lengths and used to whip or constrict people. It was once used to knock the Tessaiga out of InuYasha's hands. It is a part of his body.
